Time for year-end lists

December 9, 2009 | 2 Comments

I listened to a lot of new music this year. Mostly, if not exclusively, downloaded from Magnet Magazine, an independent music magazine out of Philadelphia, a city I hold close in my heart partially because I went to college there, but also because you can walk into nearly any bar in that fine city and order a lager, and they will bring you a Yuengling! Bless them all.

Anyway, lots of singles were heard, some translated into albums purchased, some did not. Here is a beginning sampling. I’ll do maybe five a day? So as not to break bostonbiker.org?

Some I may have listed before. Sorry if so. I have a soggy brain.

Au Revoir Simone: Lark (Ruff and Jam Remix)
The Bats: Countersign
The Clean: In The Dreamlife U Need A Rubber Soul
Great Northern: Houses
Heartless Bastard: The Mountain

“daddy’s highway” by the bats is in my fave top 40 of all time. surprised to see they are back together and recording.

can the clean ever top “pink frost?”

“North By North” is definitely one of my top ten songs, in the world, period. The Bats have done a few other records since, they all sound more or less similar – which is fine with me! As for the Clean (they seem to have dropped the “the”?), I just love their sound. It’s so… clean! Yay for NZ …
