So much to catch up on
November 14, 2008 | 3 Comments
Or, so much on which to catch up. Yes, grammar is interesting.
How did I fall behind with my blogging? Well, in the weeks before the election I caught a cold – which led to me lying in bed and catching up on all the unread reading material in the house. Snot filling the head usually […]

Pretty tree

Camera phone, unfortunately. I have to start riding with a camera in pocket. That’s more feasible now that colder weather means more clothes and therefore more pockets.
This tree is on the Battle Road between Concord and Lexington, route 2A in the background.

Why and when?
October 16, 2008 | 2 Comments
1) When did it become the case that I have to repair my wireless internet connection (thank you, Verizon Fios) several times a day in order to have any hope of regular connection? Why is this considered a premium service?
2) When did “humungous” become a word considered acceptable for use in major media outlets? I […]

Why people vote Republican
September 29, 2008 | Leave a Comment
I have been sending this article to so many of my friends lately that I thought I should just post it here. This is a very interesting read. Located as I am in the bluest part of the bluest state, my position should be clear - but it’s interesting to try to understand the other […]

Public service vs. big paycheck

Here are two responses to an interesting recent article in the NYTimes. I find both disheartening.

And I quote

This from a local cycling team mailing list:
“I have decided to finally put my hybrid bike aside and purchase a road bike. This will be my first road bike, so I’m not quite sure what to be looking for. In particular, I don’t want to skimp on features/components that are important, but I […]

Spring cold
May 26, 2008 | Leave a Comment
I was fighting off a cold for a week, but then it descended full force over the weekend. All I’ve done the past week is lie in bed when not at the shop, and still I get sicker and sicker. And all these beautiful sunny days, wasted to being snotty and blowing my nose!
SUCKY.
I guess […]

1001 books

Another aggravating list has been created for us to debate, re: this interesting article in the New York Times.
The article references this list, which suppose is roughly the correct 1001 books, despite the last date of update being two years ago. I mistakenly started counting and it took me awhile, because I had to fact-check […]

Cyclists and antihistamines: A question
April 10, 2008 | 2 Comments
Dear cyclists:
I have seasonal allergies. This is a new discovery. It totally sucks to make it through the enormity of winter to then discover another impediment to the long rides.
Here’s what I want to know: should I take one of those OTC antihistamines like Claritin every day, as a way to deal with symptoms before […]
